Distros I have tried ever

These are distros I've installed on my various laptops, roughly ordered chronologically. I used to distro-hop a lot, but settled on flavors of arch linux, ultimately. If you want to try installing stuff on hardware, I can wholeheartedly recommend a usb drive with ventoy.

  1. ~2013
    1. Ubuntu
      1. decent for servers.
      2. lots of tutorials out there, so good for beginners in that way. Imo it's outclassed by other modern distros (mint).
    2. Linux MintπŸ‘
      1. my more modern recommendation for new users, rather than ubuntu.
    3. Crunchbang (Very stylish. dead distro, though)
    4. Gentoo (Briefly)
    5. Debian. πŸ‘
      1. nice for servers
  2. ~2016
    1. Manjaro πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘Ž
      1. Can't recommend it. Bad packaging
    2. Archbang
  3. ~ 2020
    1. EndeavourOS
      1. This one is okay, but I've found it to be inferior to ArcoLinux
    2. ArcoLinux πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
      1. This is my modern go-to. Very confusing website, but great video tutorials and great overall support.

In terms of hardware I've installed linux on.

  1. Acer Aspire One Netbook
  2. Acer C720 i3 (x3)
  3. Thinkpad T460s
  4. Dell XPS 15 (x2)
  5. Chuwi MiniBook X
  6. Steam Deck (I'm counting this because it is Arch lol)
